2025 Grand National: Preview
The 2025 edition of the 2025 Grand National at Aintree begins on Thursday afternoon, and here we are going to be taking a look ahead at the action to come on all three days this year.
Horse Racing fans across the world are spoilt at this time of year, with a plethora of the most prestigious and anticipated race meetings taking place at some of the most famous and historic racecourses throughout the United Kingdom, and following the incredible 2025 edition of the Cheltenham Festival, it is now the turn of the iconic Grand National at Aintree to thrill racegoers with the thrilling action to come across all three days at this famous event.
The 2025 Aintree Grand National is set to take place from Thursday 3rd April to Saturday 5th April 2025, and across all of these days, a grand total of no less than 21 high calibre races taking place at the historic horse racing venue that is Aintree, with the first horse racing taking place there back in 1829 when it first opened with only flat racing taking place before jump racing was adopted there in 1836 with the first jumps race meeting at Aintree being the Liverpool Grand Steeplechase.
Back to the 2025 Grand National itself, action will get started with this year’s running of the 13:45 EBC Group Manifesto Novices’ Chase. Fast forward to the final day, and this will see the latest running of the Weatherbys nhstallions.co.uk Standard Open National Hunt Flat Race, which takes place at 17:35 on the evening of Saturday 5th April 2025.
Now, we are going to be taking a look ahead at all three days of the upcoming and much anticipated 2025 Grand National at Aintree, which begins in the early afternoon of Thursday 3rd April 2025.
Opening Day – Thursday 3rd April 2025
We will begin this preview with the Opening Day of the 2025 Aintree Grand National on Thursday 3rd April 2025. The following seven races will be taking place across the day, from 13:45 to 17:15 in the afternoon.
This day has no less than four Grade One races, which are as follows: the EBC Group Manifesto Novices’ Chase, the Boodles Anniversary 4-Y-O Juvenile Hurdle, the Brooklands Golden Miller Chronograph Bowl Chase, and the William Hill Aintree Hurdle.
The horses that are set to run in all seven races on the opening day have been officially announced, and they are as follows:

Ladies Day – Friday 4th April 2025
Ladies Day at the Aintree Grand National each year is always a day that stands out, with some more incredible racing taking place over the course of the day, with seven further races set to take place on day two on Friday 4th April 2025.
There are a great number of races that particularly stand out on this day, one of which is the Grade One Topham Chase, which was won most recently back in 2024 by Arizona Cardinal, who was ridden by Ciaran Gethings, with the horse having been trained by Stuart Edmunds. Now we will look at the horses who are making up the field for each of the seven races on day two of the 2025 Grand National at Aintree.

Now, Grand National Day, day three of the 2025 Aintree Grand National is the day that sees the most prestigious and highly anticipated races of the entire race meeting, which is, of course, going to be the Randox Grand National Handicap Chase at 16:00 on the afternoon of Saturday 5th April 2025.
The most recent winner of the Randox Grand National race was I Am Maximus, who was ridden to an incredible victory by jockey Paul Townend, with the horse having been trained by the very widely revered Willie Mullins.
