Chelsea are welcoming a Crystal Palace side led by their Austrian Head Coach, Oliver Glasner, to Stamford Bridge in the 2024/25 Premier League season. The Blues’ form was fantastic towards the end of last season, and they will aim to continue this momentum this term.

Mauricio Pochettino led Chelsea for the duration of the 2023/24 season. After a difficult start to the season, he managed to lead his team to a 5th-place finish after the team accumulated a total of 63 points from their 38 top-flight matches. This was enough for UEFA Europa Conference League Qualification after Manchester United secured the final UEFA Europa League spot after beating Champions Manchester City to win the FA Cup.

Pochettino did, however, depart at the end of the last campaign, and Leicester City Head Coach Enzo Maresca will take over the West London club for the 2024/25 season or beyond. The Italian used to work under Pep Guardiola at Manchester City before eventually taking charge of Leicester for what was his first Head Coach role at an English club.

During his time with the club, he led the Foxes to an instant return to the Premier League after winning the EFL Championship title, which was secured after his side earned a grand total of 97 points from their 46 matches in the English Second Tier. Second place and surprise package Ipswich Town finished just a point behind them in what was an intense and highly competitive season in the Championship.

Moving on to Crystal Palace, Austrian Head Coach Oliver Glasner succeeded Roy Hodgson at the Eagles on 19 February 2024. Since his appointment at Selhurst Park, he led them to 7 wins in his 13 matches in charge last season, which saw them finish 10th with 49 points. There is optimism at the South London club for the 2024/25 season.

These two clubs have come face to face in a competitive match on 65 occasions so far, with the Blues having the most wins in the fixture to date with 38 compared to the Eagles’ total of 12. There have been 15 draws between them in total so far.
