Chelsea, who are led by their Italian Head Coach Enzo Maresca, are set to be going head to head with Polish heavyweights Legia Warsaw in the Quarter Finals of the 2024/25 UEFA Conference League, with the second leg of this much anticipated and crucial tie taking place at the famous and historic Stamford Bridge in the heart of West London on Thursday 17th April 2025. The kick-off is at 8pm.
The Blues went into this competition as favourites, and this has not changed going into this tie, and victory at the Bridge would most certainly see their place in the crucial semi-finals of this competition, as they look to take a step closer to realising their ambition for this competition this season, which is to win it come the final later on this season, and they will be looking to beat Legia Warsaw over the two legs, with the tie set to be settled on Thursday evening at Stamford Bridge.
Chelsea have only gone from strength to strength in this season’s UEFA Conference League, having won the League Phase after winning all 6 of their matches in order to earn what was the maximum total of no less than 18 points from this particular stage of this season’s competition. They got what were some particularly eye-catching victories – goals from Joao Felix (22’, 55’), Mykhailo Mudryk (49’), and Christopher Nkunku (59’ – Penalty) sealed what was a complete performance in a stylish and emphatic 4 – 1 victory away from home in Greece against Panathinaikos. Facundo Pellistri, formerly of Manchester United, was the only goal scorer for the hosts on that night (69’).
The other statement victory came against Belgian outfit Gent at Stamford Bridge, where some goals from the likes of Renato Veiga (12’), Pedro Neto (46’), Christopher Nkunku (63’), and Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall (70’) all sealed what was a comfortable and thoroughly deserved 4 – 2 victory in West London in the end. It was Japanese central defender Tsuyoshi Watanabe (50’) and Israeli midfielder Omri Gandelman (90’) who were the only two goal scorers for the away side that night.
Chelsea also managed to get victories in the League Phase against the likes of Noah (8 – 0), Heidenheim (2 – 0), Astana (3 – 1), and as well as Irish outfit Shamrock Rovers, who Chelsea were able to beat emphatically 5 – 1 at Stamford Bridge in the end.
In the Round of 16, Enzo Maresca and Chelsea came up against Danish outfit FC Copenhagen, who they were able to beat comfortably 3 – 1 on aggregate. In the first leg, it was to be a deserved 2 – 1 victory away from home in Denmark, with both Reece James (46’) and Enzo Fernandez (65’) scoring for the visitors, whilst it was Brazil’s Danilo Pereira who scored the sole goal for the hosts on that night (79’).
In the second leg at Stamford Bridge, it was to be a 1 – 0 win for Chelsea, who won thanks to a winning goal from England international midfielder Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall early on into the second half at the Bridge (55’).
As for Legia Warsaw, they finished 7th in the final League Phase table, automatically qualifying directly for the Round of 16 thanks to what was a top eight finish. In this League Phase itself, the Polish Club were able to emerge victorious against the likes of Real Betis (1 – 0), Dinamo Minsk (3 – 0), and Omonoia (3 – 0).
In the Round of 16, the club came face to face with Swedish outfit Molde. The first leg was lost by Legia away from home, with them being beaten 3 – 2. Eirik Hestad (11’), Kristian Eriksen (17’), and Fredrik Gulbrandsen (43’) all scored for the hosts, whilst it was Kacper Chodyna (64’) and Luquinhas (67’) who both scored the goals for visitors Legia on that day.
The second leg won at home, with Legia winning 2 – 0 thanks to goals from Ryoya Morishita (34’) and Marc Gual (108’) to seal a tight and highly competitive 4 – 3 aggregate victory in the end after extra time in this game. Both clubs went down to ten men after both teams received a red card each, with Artur Jedrzejczyk (120’) and Kristian Eriksen (118’) both being sent off.
There is no better way to watch this highly anticipated and high stakes 2024/25 UEFA Conference League Quarter Finals Second Leg tie between Enzo Maresca’s Chelsea and Goncalo Feio’s Legia Warsaw at Stamford Bridge than with an Eventmasters VIP Hospitality Package.
