The fourth round of the 2024/25 FA Cup will see David Moyes’ Everton take on a Bournemouth side led by their Spanish Head Coach Andoni Iraola at Goodison Park in a tie that will be hosted in February 2025. This game promises to be hard fought and enthralling between the Toffees and the Cherries on Merseyside.
Everton are five time winners of this highly prestigious and historic competition, having lifted the trophy in 1905/06, 1932/33, 1965/66, 1983/84, and most recently in the 1994/95 season, when they were able to emerge as 1 – 0 winners in what was a tense final at the Old Wembley Stadium against Sir Alex Ferguson’s Manchester United. It was Paul Rideout who scored the winning goal with half an hour of the game gone (30’).
Leicester City are one time winners of the FA Cup, lifting the trophy in the 2020/21 Final at Wembley Stadium. The Foxes were able to beat Chelsea 1 – 0 thanks to a spectacular goal from Belgium international midfielder Youri Tielemans at the midway stage of the second half (63’).
To get to the Fourth Round, Moyes’ Toffees went face to face with League One Club Peterborough United at Goodison Park on Thursday 9th January. It was a comfortable and dominant 2 – 0 victory against Posh for the hosts, who were able to find the back of the visitors’ net thanks to goals from Beto (42’) and Iliman Ndiaye, who scored from the penalty spot deep into second half stoppage time (90+8’).
As for Bournemouth, they went toe to toe with EFL Championship outfit West Bromwich Albion at the Vitality Stadium on the South Coast on Saturday 11th January 2025. In the end, the hosts were emphatic, ruthless, and dominant 5 – 1 winners against the Baggies, scoring through Justin Kluivert (27’), Dango Ouattara (34’, 44’), Antoine Semenyo (47’), and Daniel Jebbison (90+2’). West Brom had initially taken the lead early on through a goal from Caleb Taylor (14’).
In the entire history of the FA Cup, Everton and Bournemouth have gone head to head in this highly prestigious and historic competition on just two occasions, with the Toffees having been victorious in both games.
Their first meeting in this competition came in the Third Round of the 1936/37 FA Cup at Goodison Park, where goals from Torrance Gillick (2), Jim Cunliffe, and Alex Stevenson (2) sealed what was an emphatic and ruthless 5- 0 victory.
The most recent FA Cup tie to have been played between these two clubs took place on 20th February 2016 in what was the Fifth Round of the 2015/16 FA Cup competition. It was a comfortable and deserved 2 – 0 victory for the Toffees at the Vitality Stadium, who scored through goals from Ross Barkley (55’) and Romelu Lukaku (76’).
There is no better way to watch this highly anticipated 2024/25 FA Cup Fourth Round tie between David Moyes’ Everton and Andoni Iraola’s Bournemouth at Goodison Park than with an Eventmasters Hospitality Package.
