2025 Scottish Open: Rose, Homa & An join line-up
It has been officially announced that Justin Rose, Max Homa, and Byeong Hun An have all joined a line-up including reigning Champion Robert MacIntyre at this year’s Genesis Scottish Open.
The Renaissance Club is ready to host the 2025 Genesis Scottish Open, with the 43rd edition of this highly prestigious golf tournament set to begin later this year. Some of the best players in the world will be going head to head throughout this enthralling and action packed four day spectacular, which is set to take place from Thursday 10th July to Sunday 13th July 2025.
It has recently been officially announced that three new major names in the world of golf have joined the line-up for the Scottish Open in 2025. Reigning Champion Robert MacIntyre will be joined by the likes of former Scottish Open winner Justin Rose, as well as the likes of Max Homa and Byeong Hun An in this much anticipated event.
Starting with Rose, his first and so far only Scottish Open title came back in 2014, and he will be looking to emerge as the winner of this highly prestigious tournament for the second time in his illustrious career to date.
His 2014 win saw him finish on 16 under par, comfortably finishing ahead of his Swedish counterpart Kristoffer Broberg who had to settle for a second place in the end after what had been an enthralling tournament.
He has also won the US Open which he did back in 2013, and he did also have the honour of being awarded with an Olympic Gold Medal in 2016.
As for Max Homa, he made a strong impression in the most recent Ryder Cup where he was one of the players who represented the United States. Whilst his team did go on to be defeated by Team Europe, he was a crucial part of his team, as his crucial birdie on the 15th hole meant that the US’ hopes of glory had not yet vanished.
In 2023, Homa was the winner of that year’s Farmers Insurance Open in San Diego, California where a tense tournament saw him beat runner-up Keegan Bradley by a margin of just 2 strokes in the end. His second Fortinet Championship win in September 2022 was also a tight and tense event, with him this time winning by a margin of just one stroke ahead of the runner-up, who was England’s Danny Willett in the end.
His first win in this tournament had come back in May 2019, when he was able to beat fellow American Joel Dahmen by the margin of just 3 strokes in the end.
Moving on to Byeong Hun An, he is a two time European Tour winner. His first triumph came back in 2015 when he was the winner of the BMW PGA Championship, and it was an emphatic victory by a margin of no less than 21 strokes. He was the clear winner, with Thongchai Jaidee and Miguel Angel Jimenez both finishing joint second in the end.
He then also won the 2023 Genesis Championship in his native South Korea, where he played alongside the likes of Tom Kim. Byeong Hun An’s victory came via a play-off against Kim, beating him thanks to a birdie on the first extra hole.
Excitement is building ahead of the start of the 2025 Genesis Scottish Open on Thursday 10th July, with Robert MacIntyre set to defend the title that he won last year. Just like in 2024, the Scot will be joined by a world class field of players in what is set to be an enthralling tournament this year.
