Pre-race favourite Midnight Gun, ridden by James Doyle came in third place in the end, and it was Tom Marquand on board the William Haggas trained Approval who came away as the first race winner of the day, with Brioni being the runner-up.

Then came the second race of day three, the Markel Richmond Stakes. Black Forza came away as the winner of this race after managing to fend off some stern competition from the likes of pre-race favourite The Strikin King and Intrusively, who came in second and third place respectively overall. It was joy for the winning jockey Dylan Browne McMonagle and Trainer Michael O’Callaghan.

An unbeaten streak was maintained when Aidan O’Brien’s pre-race favourite Jan Brueghel came out on top in the 2024 John Pearce Racing Gordon Stakes. It was a close fought and intense race, but Ryan Moore managed to just about hold onto his advantage onboard Jan Brueghel to secure the win ahead of runner-up Bellum Justum and Sayedaty Sadaty in third place.

The famous Qatar Nassau Stakes came at the halfway point of the day as the fourth race of the day. It was a second win of the day for Aidan O’Brien and Jockey Ryan Moore, who was able to ride Opera Singer to victory following an intense conclusion to this race. See The Fire and Sparkling Plenty had to settle for a second and third place finish respectively overall. The pre-race favourite Emily Upjohn came in 6th.

Race Five on Thursday afternoon was the 2024 renewal of the Jaeger-Lecoultre Nursery Handicap, where Rossa Ryan won riding Mr Chaplin, beating runner-up Original Outlaw and pre-race favourite El Burhan in third place. Sunshine State came in fourth place following an enthralling race.

What followed was the third to last race of day three – the Buccellati Handicap. It was a second win of the day for Jockey Tom Marquand who rode Shagraan to the win, beating Got To Love A Grey and Toca Madera, who filled up the other two spots in this race’s top three, whilst Mc Loven came away with a fourth place finish in the end.

It was turning out to be an incredible day at Goodwood Racecourse for both Aidan O’Brien and Ryan Moore, and it continued in the Tatler British EBF Maiden Fillies’ Stakes. Dreamy, the pre-race favourite ended the day’s penultimate race as the winner, ensuring that Bouvier and Tundra Rose had to settle for a second and third place finish respectively.

Action on day three was brought to a close by the latest iteration of the HKJC World Pool Handicap. Jockey Joe Fanning managed to lead Great Chieftain to victory ahead of runner-up Ebt’s Guard and Spanish Blaze, who rounded off the top three in this race in third place in the end. The pre-race favourite Treasure Time had to settle for a 5th place finish in the end.
