Aintree Racecourse
Aintree Racecourse in Liverpool is known around the world as being home to the prestigious Grand National steeplechase.
Aintree Racecourse
A monumental challenge for both horse and jockey, the revered race is run over 4 miles, 2 furlongs and 74 yards. It is widely considered to be one of the most demanding competitions within the sport. Each year spectators can expect to see a fiercely competitive battle unfold.
There are a vast number of obstacles that racers must contend with. Before reaching the finish line Grand National Runners must complete two laps of the 16 fenced racecourse. Renowned hurdles include The Chair, Foinavon, Valentine’s, Canal Turn and Becher’s Brook. The names of the famous fences are stemmed from Grand National History.
