The famous Twickenham Stadium will be hosting a much anticipated clash in what is England’s opening fixture of the 2025 Autumn Internationals, with the hosts led by Head Coach Steve Borthwick, whilst their Southern Hemisphere opponents Australia will be led by Joe Schmidt. This game will be taking place on Saturday 1st November 2025.

Borthwick has been leading the England Senior Team ever since he was appointed as the new Head Coach back on Monday 19th December 2022, where he succeeded Eddie Jones in the England hot seat.

England’s most recent participation in the Autumn Internationals took place back in November 2024. This saw them record a particularly memorable and dominant 59 – 14 victory over Japan, whilst this was also the last time that England faced Australia in a competitive fixture, and it was a narrow 37 – 42 defeat for Borthwick’s side on this occasion.

In their latest meeting in the 2025 edition of the Autumn Internationals, England will be looking for revenge as they look to record a crucial and statement victory against the Wallabies at the historic Twickenham Stadium.

Aside from the win against England, Australia had a memorable result against Wales, who they were able to defeat by an emphatic scoreline of 20 – 52 at the Principality Stadium. They were on the wrong end of a narrow defeat themselves, losing 22 – 19 to Ireland at the Aviva Stadium in Dublin.

England and Australia first met in competitive action all the way back on 9th January 1909 as part of the latter’s tour of the British Isles. Australia did win 3 – 9 at the Rectory Field in Blackheath. England’s first-ever victory against Australia competitively was at Twickenham in London, where the hosts were 18 – 11 winners against their Southern Hemisphere visitors.

Overall, these two nations have gone head to head competitively on a grand total of 56 occasions in what has been a very competitive fixture between Australia and England over the years. As of the time of writing, it is England who has so far recorded the most victories with 28 compared with a total of 27 for Australia. There has been just 1 draw between them to date.
