2025 Six Nations: England Squad Announced
England Head Coach has unveiled his 36 man squad ahead of the start of the 2025 Guinness Six Nations later this month.
The Guinness Six Nations is the standout event on any rugby fan’s calendar, with this extraordinary and highly prestigious tournament pitting some of the best players and international teams in the world against each other will finally return in just a few weeks’ time.
Action in the 2025 Six Nations gets underway on Friday 31st January 2025, with it coming to a close on 15th March 2025. England’s first game will see them go toe to toe with fierce rivals Ireland, led by Andy Farrell, at the Aviva Stadium, on Saturday 1st February 2025. The game gets underway at 16:45.
The remainder of England’s 2025 Guinness Six Nations Fixtures are as follows:

In the most recent Six Nations back in 2024, England had to settle for a third place finish with a total of 14 points from their 5 matches after winning three and losing two of these games overall.
England are 7 time winners of the Six Nations, having tasted glory in 2000, 2001, 2003, 2011, 2016, 2017, and most recently in 2020. The 2020 tournament saw them emerge with a number of particularly memorable victories, which includes a famous 24 – 12 victory over Ireland at Twickenham in front of an 81,476 strong crowd. George Ford, Elliot Daly, and Luke Cowan-Dickie all scored tries that day.
Ahead of the start of the latest Six Nations Championship, England Head Coach Steve Borthwick has officially announced his 36-man squad. One aspect of the news that stood out immediately was the appointment of Saracens lock Maro Itoje as the new captain of England – the 136th player to have been given this honour. The vice captains of the team will be Bristol Bears’ Ellis Genge and Itoje’s Saracens teammate Jamie George, who was also the previous captain.
A total of eight changes have been made to the England Squad following the most recent Autumn Nations Series in 2024. Dan Cole, Trevor Davison, Nick Isiekwe, and Sam Underhill are not part of the squad (the latter two due to injury), to be replaced by Ollie Chessum (Leicester Tigers), Joe Heyes (Leicester Tigers), Bevan Rodd (Sale Sharks), and Tom Willis (Saracens).
There are also recalls to the squad for Elliot Daly and Alex Mitchell, whilst there are maiden call-ups for Oscar Beard and Cadan Murley of Harlequins, who could receive their first senior caps for the England National Team over the course of the upcoming 2025 Guinness Six Nations.
Below is the England squad in full:
